Tilting disc check valve
A Tilting Disc Check Valve is a type of non-return valve that allows fluid to flow in one direction while preventing backflow by using a pivot-mounted disc. Unlike traditional swing check valves, the tilting disc valve employs a disc that tilts off-center on a hinge or pivot mechanism, providing increased responsiveness and a smoother flow.
Key Features:
1. Tilting Disc Mechanism: The disc in this valve tilts to an open position when fluid flows in the desired direction and closes to prevent backflow. The pivot allows for a more balanced, less turbulent flow compared to other check valves.
2. Reduced Pressure Drop: The tilting action and streamlined design help minimize pressure drop across the valve, enhancing system efficiency.
3. Quick Closure: The design allows for rapid closure of the disc when backflow is detected, thus preventing water hammer—a sudden pressure surge caused by the sudden stopping of flow.
4. Low Maintenance: The simplified design results in fewer moving parts, reducing the need for frequent maintenance and increasing the valve’s lifespan.
Applications:
Tilting Disc Check Valves are commonly used in applications where low-pressure loss and quick response to backflow are crucial. They find extensive use in water treatment facilities, oil and gas pipelines, petrochemical industries, and power plants.
Advantages:
• Smoother Flow: The off-center pivot reduces turbulence and improves flow characteristics.
• Durability: Made from robust materials that withstand harsh conditions.
• Versatility: Suitable for a wide range of fluids, including water, gases, and hydrocarbons.

STRUCTURE FEATURES
Slamming of check valves is the result of failure of the valve disc to reach its closed position before the fluid flow reversal. Tilting disc check valves can close quickly is due to the disc operating distance is very short, so can quickly reach the seat position, thus minimizing the Slamming.
Tilting disc check valves are designed to prevent reverse flow of fluid in horizontal or vertical pipelines, and they are available only for medium flow upward in vertical lines, or at any angle of inclination from horizontal to vertical.
Tilting disc check valves operates automatically. It opens under the pressure of fluid velocity and closes under the action of gravity. Seat seal load and tightness are associated with back pressure, and if flow pressure is insufficient to support the valve in an open, stable position, the disc and other moving parts will continue to vibrate.
